Las Pintadas, Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina
From Anima Mundi this is our third collaboration coming from and very small area called ‘Las Pintadas’ in Tunuyan. The label says ‘Ma?bec’ for a reason. It is predominantly Malbec blended with Ancellota – a little known Italian variety that is gaining traction in Argentina and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Rich and dark, black cherry and cassis, with a little prune and raisin giving some ripeness. Floral and dark at the same time, complex and juicy on the palate.
I first encountered this wine in the Arginian Steakhouse Gauchos, and on the recommendation of the somellier, paid £90.00 for a bottle, and it was absolutely gorgeous paired with their steak, Imagine my delight when I discovered how much it cost here. I still get the same pleasure drinking it, but my pocket is even happier. Enjoy!
